| ★ Rainbow Elders Receive Grant - Chinook Fund Dinner - October 12, 2022 |

Many thanks to the amazing folk at Calgary’s Chinook Fund who recently awarded us a grant of over $31,000! Yes, you read it right: $31,000.
The Chinook Fund supports charitable organizations providing services, programming, education, and support for and about the LGBTQ+ community.

It is an endowment fund established to provide ongoing long-term funding. Each year the fund accrues income and a portion of this income is distributed by the Fund’s advisory committee in support of charitable LGBTQ+ organizations.
This funding will allow us to pursue many initiatives to support LGBTQ+ seniors and youth. There are three primary aspects to this work:
1. Expanding advertising and engagement for Long Term Care and Assisted living facilities aimed at 2SLGBTQ+ residents, their allies, and caregivers (friends and family);
2. Expanding a mentorship program for 2SLGBTQ+ youth through a partnership with the Centre for Sexuality, using Intergenerational Teas, Camp FYrefly and GSAs to expand our reach;
3. Offering monthly socials for 2SLGBTQ+ vulnerable and other seniors to connect, socialize and learn.
This is an exciting moment for us all Rainbow Elders Calgary!

On October 12, 2022, there was a fundraising dinner for the Chinook Fund which Stephen and Lois attended on behalf of Rainbow Elders Calgary. It was an honour to attend and speak about Rainbow Elders and our plans.
